We're looking for interns to join our remote team!

Our Community Research & Outreach Interns play a pivotal part in building the free InReach App, the world's first tech platform matching LGBTQ+ people with safe, verified resources. InReach’s free technology instantly matches LGBTQ+ people fleeing persecution and other LGBTQ+ people in need with independently verified, affirming medical and mental health care, immigration and other legal help, safe housing, education and employment opportunities, translation services, community support, and more critical support services.

During this internship, you will use your research, community outreach and Spanish language skills to identify and verify new safe direct service providers for inclusion in the InReach App. This is an exciting opportunity to improve your research, community outreach, and translation skills. We’re looking for meticulous, hard-working students who are passionate about LGBTQ+ and refugee rights.

  • Report to our Resource Coordinator.
  • Complete a comprehensive virtual training program designed to enhance interns knowledge of LGBTQ+ rights, LGBTQ+ terminology, immigration law and policy, and the double marginalization of LGBTQ+ asylum seekers and other LGBTQ+ people fleeing persecution.
  • Call and email organizations in English and French to verify fit for the free InReach App.
  • Research new affirming, safe organizations to include on InReach.
  • Additional ad hoc community resource and outreach tasks (as needed).
  • Obtained or pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree (e.g. B.A., B.S., J.D., M.S.).
  • Bilingual in English and French.
  • The flexibility to call organizations in English and French. during local business hours.
  • You are comfortable using online communication tools (e.g. G Suite, Slack, Asana, Telzio).
  • The ability to follow instructions and work independently in a remote environment.
  • You are reliable, meticulous and appreciate the value of deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn in-depth about the InReach App and our tailored resource verification process.
  • Previous experience in the social services sector is a plus.

Schedule & Compensation: We’re looking for interns to join us for the Fall 2022 semester (Tuesday, September 6 – Friday, December 9, 2022) with a commitment of 10-30 hours per week, Monday – Friday. The specific schedule and total number of hours spent per week is flexible and depends on the personal availability of each intern.

*Note: This internship is remote and unpaid. Interns may also extend the internship into the 2023 Spring Semester.
