In response to rising anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and increasing barriers to affirming care, InReach—a trans-led tech nonprofit behind the world’s first open source verified LGBTQ+ resource platform—has announced the launch of the 1M Lives by 2030 Initiative. Building on our success in connecting over 420,000 people to affirming resources, this bold initiative aims to link 1 million LGBTQ+ people to verified services by 2030. As essential care like gender-affirming healthcare and abortion services becomes increasingly restricted, this initiative will expand access to safe resources for LGBTQ+ people navigating rapidly changing laws.

The 1M Lives by 2030 Initiative focuses on making progress in four key areas to ensure that every LGBTQ+ person has access to the support they need to thrive:
💚 Engineering: Improve and scale InReach’s platform to meet the rising demand for LGBTQ+ resources during this pivotal moment for LGBTQ+ rights. Your support helps us enhance our open-source technology and expand its capacity to serve more users.
💚 Vetting and Accessibility: Sustain and grow InReach’s verified resource database by incorporating public suggestions and translating data to enhance accessibility for non-English speakers. With your help, we can ensure that every LGBTQ+ person–regardless of language, identity or location–has access to safe services.
💚 Outreach: Amplify InReach’s visibility, especially in states with restrictive laws, to ensure LGBTQ+ people can access verified, affirming resources anytime, anywhere. We’ll reach those who need us most at a time when access to care is increasingly under threat.
💚 Data and Policy Advocacy: Leverage InReach’s unique data to identify gaps and assess demand for LGBTQ+ resources across states, helping funders, local governments, and stakeholders fill critical service gaps.
As state laws continue to threaten the safety of the diverse LGBTQ+ community, the 1M Lives by 2030 Initiative will help bring us closer to a world where every LGBTQ+ person has access to the verified resources they need to survive and thrive.
🏳️🌈 Taylor, a LGBTQ+ teen facing housing insecurity after being rejected by their family, is at a crossroads. Taylor finds hope and support through InReach’s free, constantly updated resource platform, where they can confidentially access verified safe housing and other essential services with just a few clicks. As they navigate their journey, Taylor rates and reviews providers, sharing their experiences to assist fellow users. They also suggest new providers they discover along the way to help more LGBTQ+ youth access affirming care.
🏳️⚧️ Angela is a trans woman seeking asylum in the U.S. after fleeing death threats in her home country due to her gender identity. Her pro bono attorney, Daniel, is dedicated to helping her navigate the complex legal system, but he struggles to find other resources to meet her holistic needs, such as safe housing, language assistance, gender-affirming medical care, and trauma-informed mental health care. With InReach, Daniel can quickly connect Angela to essential resources, allowing him to focus on building the strongest legal case possible while ensuring she receives the care she needs to heal and thrive. Additionally, Daniel enhances the platform for future attorneys and their clients by contributing new resource suggestions and rating his referrals. His legal clinic registers for a free provider account on the platform, enabling them to manage their own listing and advertise their services to more eligible clients seeking support.
🌈 Sarah, a local elected official, uses InReach to gain insight into the demand for LGBTQ+ affirming services in her state. By exploring our verified data, her office can identify local trans-led and BIPOC-led organizations that need funding and pinpoint gaps in services by location, service type, and/or specific communities. This informed approach enables Sarah to advocate for local policy changes while helping her state allocate resources effectively and direct new funding to areas of greatest need.
