On Thursday, March 8th, 2018, Katie Sgarro, InReach Co-Founder & President, traveled to Washington, D.C. to represent InReach on Capitol Hill. In honor of International Women’s Day, Katie was invited to be a moderator for a unique panel discussion on female survivors of sexual violence seeking asylum in the U.S. The event, presented by the Refugee Alliance Network and supported by All Souls Church, took place at the Rayburn House Office Building, U.S. House of Representatives on Capitol Hill.

As the Trump administration looks to drastically downsize the U.S. refugee program, this conversation is more important than ever. What does the future hold for America? Under the Trump administration, can the U.S. remain a much-needed beacon of hope for female survivors of sexual violence worldwide? The panel showcased why a woman – regardless of where she is coming from, the color of her skin or her sexual orientation  – deserves equal protection under the law in her pursuit to seek safety in a new country.

InReach thanks the Refugee Alliance Network for its support and invitation to contribute to such a needed conversation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”3700″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row]
