InReach Announces Three New Board Members

AsylumConnect is pleased to announce the selection of three new board members! Welcome Christina Tong, Hans How, and David Robinson! Each new member brings a wealth of professional and personal expertise to our growing board. We are excited about their ongoing commitment to AsylumConnect and its mission.

Christina Tong— Christina is a Senior Product Manager at Peloton. She previously worked as a Product Manager at Google San Francisco, where she led global launches on the Augmented Reality, Lens, and Google My Business teams, including empowering businesses to mark themselves as “women-led” on Google Maps.

In her spare time, Christina volunteers at the Trevor Project. She also writes about fitness tech and product management at justchristinatong.com, and has been a certified fitness trainer for over five years. Christina graduated with honors from Pomona College in 2017 with a degree in computer science and a minor in politics, where she fought for students’ rights and resources on campus as Student Body President. Before joining the governing board of directors, Christina previously served on the AsylumConnect Junior Board of young professionals. She’s excited to draw on her professional and personal experiences to advance AsylumConnect’s mission.

Hans How— Hans How works at the intersection of impact investing, affordable housing, sustainability, and community development at New Island Capital. He oversees a global portfolio of mission-aligned projects that seek to improve the quality, resilience, and vitality of our communities as well as restore planetary health.

As a gay Asian immigrant community leader, Hans cofounded and campaigned for the historic passage of Proposition C: Commissions For All, a ballot measure that will give all San Franciscans, regardless of immigration status, a voice, representation, and equal rights to serve on city commissions and advisory bodies. After Prop C was successfully passed by voters, Hans was appointed by the Board of Supervisors to serve as the Housing Commissioner to provide oversight of city funds to develop permanently affordable housing in the City and County of San Francisco.

Born and raised in Malaysia, Hans is a proud first-generation college graduate from Wesleyan University, where he earned full scholarships from the Freeman Foundation and the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce.

For his work on AsylumConnect, Hans has been a featured speaker on LGBTQ+ rights and immigrant rights through national outlets including Forbes, Teen Vogue, The Daily Beast, The Bay Area Reporter, Upswell, and Lavender Law.

Before joining the governing board of directors, Hans previously served as the volunteer Vice President of AsylumConnect from June 2017 – May 2021.

David Robinson— David is a Sr Manager at  Insuring and providing eDiscovery service levels in a senior role for global discovery and surveillance customers. As a subject matter expert, providing direct consultation and support to Macquarie legal, compliance, HR, and surveillance teams throughout the lifecycle of their eDiscovery requests from inception to production.

He is a member of the steering committee for Macquarie’s Pride @ Macquarie.  David has a BFA from New York University and is a certified project manager (PMI) and certified eDiscovery Specialist (CEDS).
David lives pretty much under the Manhattan Bridge in Brooklyn with a cocker spaniel named Honey.
