Advocates also use the day to raise awareness around discrimination and violence that trans people still face.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_custom_heading text=”Did You Know?” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:center|color:%234892da” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]

  • In 80+ countries it remains illegal or fundamentally unsafe to live openly as a LGBTQ+ person
  • 12 countries still target gender identity through ‘cross-dressing’ or ‘impersonation’ laws
  • In the US 2021 is already a record year for anti-trans legislation. So far there are 174 anti-LGBTQ bills under consideration in state legislatures across the country. Of those, 95 directly target transgender people and about half of those would (like SB 354) ban transgender girls from participating in sports consistent with their gender identity.
